The main aqueduct that conveyed water to the Temple Mount and served as the principal water supply to the Sultan’s Pool was uncovered during a recent excavation in Mishkenot Sha’ananim outside the walls of Jerusalem’s Old City. The ancient aqueduct carried purified drinking water to pilgrims and residents of Jerusalem more than 2,000 years ago.
